Brony Pet Peeves?

I want to be in all of these! Are they filming at Bronycon, or several places? Because I might go to Everfree Northwest...

Yes, they are filming in several locations. Their home location in California, BroNYCon, Germany's Galacon, and BronyUKcon. They don't say anything about EverfreeNW though :/. I actually backed the project too, and am going. I HAVE A HOPE TO BE IN IT! Considering that the 3 people I am going to BroNYCon to meet are doing this documentary together, I am not worried it will be anything less than amazing. And it looks like they want to get all sides of the community, not just the BroNYCon side.

I have ALOT

* The term "brony" its getting to be really annoying.

* When people go OMG IM SUCH A BRONIE OMG!...Its not a big deal you like a show about cartoon ponies.

* When people only like ponies beacuse they are popular. (Ex. They draw ponies to get views, wear pony shirts when they don't even know whos on thier shirt)

* When people try to fit ponies into literarly EVERYTHING! Its ok if they have a bit of pony relation (like a pony related user name) but trying to mod everything just to put ponies in it is annoying.

* Making fun of the older gens. I LOVE the older gens and they deserve respect!

* Pony catchphrases being over used.

* Wanting to talk about something else but friends only want to talk about ponies

* Aliorn OC's..(Unless they are not G4 related. If the person has had that character for a while and its their ponysona then its fine.)

*When bronies try to defend the show to hard. (death threats, name calling ect...makes us look bad)

* and snobby bronies/pony fans

Ok Im done haha

Or: I enjoy seeing ethnic depictions, acurate or not, of Jesus because it shows that the artist is connecting deeply with him.

This. Lets leave it at that and call it a day.

I feel totally justified in making fun of g3.5, because it ruined my ability to collect my favorite thing to collect for 3+ years. G 3.5 is to me what Bill Buckner was to Red Sox fans.

I can understand not likeing G3.5. It was horribule. Im talking about bronies hateing on G1,G2 and G3 beacuse they aren't "thier" ponies...

I agree with these two. If the catchphrase had been an actual catchphrase (like they tried (and failed) to make Rainbow's catchphrase "Gotta Dash!" and Spike's "Holy Guacamole!") But it's usually a single arbetrary phrase that was only used once and has no real meaning (Dash's "20% cooler" was a throwaway joke, though I do admit it fits her nicely)

I have seen 1 Alicorn OC (on here iirc) that was original and had potential - he _hated_ being an alicorn because every treated him so differently and while he wasnt going to do anything,,,drastic... he just wanted to be normal. But this was _one_ OC and so far the only one I've ever seen who's not played as a Mare E Sue...

Ah, yeah, I don't get that either. They were both "my ponies" But I like g1 better because it was my actual *childhood* ponies.

My number one biggest annoyance with the fandom is all the adult stuff where little kids can see it. Now, don't get me wrong, I laughed at the .MOV's (sorta :? ) and I like silly and/or tasteful saucy ponies. But I'm an adult and I can handle it. Every time I try to share the show with my little sisters I have to constantly monitor the websites we're on just in case random porn or profanity pops up. And I hate it! They're little girls! Keep the grownup stuff separate, please! Grrrr. :x

I'm also a mite disturbed by the people who turn Bronyism into a religion. Maybe it's because I'm already Christian, so I don't feel the need to add another, but geez guys, it's a cartoon, not a cult. I'm glad people are trying to follow the values taught in the show, but scale back the obsession a tad before we all start drinking the Kool-Aid.

Other than that, I find myself highly amused by most of the things posted here. My favorite crack shipping is TomxBloomberg. Newborn Cuties has become an inside joke between my non-brony dad and I. Donut Steele always brightens my day! I mean, just look at all that swag! He can't even keep his hooves on the ground!

175140%20-%20Alicorn%20oc%20pure_swag%20swag.png

But then, I don't get irritated easily, because (wait for it) I'm exactly like Fluttershy! Trolling, I do see a bit of myself in everypony (except Dashie), but I actually apologized the other day for disturbing my dad's sleep by puking my guts out. Tell me that's not something she would do?

It takes a lot to get me angry and stuff. however, I do have annoyances:

  • People who force MLP onto others. Yes its an awesome show, but if they say "No, I'm not interested," then, no means no. If they do eventually become interested, they'll seek it out themselves.
  • Those who rage at those who don't like MLP. This ties back into forcing the show. If they don't like it, then to each their own.
  • Fan rage. Its just a show people. A good show, but still, just a show.

I used to not like shipping, but I've actually become quite tolerant of it. Especially since I'm reading an adorable fic called Of Challenges and Kisses.

Also, the overused catchphrases (i.e. 20% cooler) are starting to grate a little on me. I like "20% cooler" myself, but don't repeat it 10000 in a place where it doesn't even make sense.

Increasingly, I'm getting very annoyed by the bronies who know no more than anyone else regarding business and proceed to act as if they are business savants dropping nuggets of knowledge no one else knows and do so in a very annoying fashion.

Is this in regards to threads that try to decipher how Hasbro conducts business, or weaving business knowledge into RP threads?

To the above three: partially all of that, but mostly what I've seen lately in regards to toys and DVDs. If I have to read one more message where someone says something along the lines of, "WELL YOU KNOW THAT WE'RE NOT THE TARGET AUDIENCE?/*hint hint* it costs more money so they won't do it!/Well you have to understand that COST EFFECTIVE ideas means that they won't make BRONY toys!!!!1".

A pet peeve of mine even outside of Bronydom are those who say very common sense duh things as if they are giving insight or are privy to some unique knowledge.

Yeah. I have to agree. That kind of talk is silly.

I mean, let's face it, it's pretty clear to me that Hasbro are already going out of their way to cater to us with toys.

I mean, I have a hard time believing that any of these would exist if Hasbro only had the target demographic in mind:

4.JPG

Probably the most purely evil character on the show; sure to be a favorite with little girls, right? :P

1.JPG

A character designed specifically to be a bully... probably not first in the line in regards to characters we'd assume would get toys

1.JPG

And the elderly character; I somehow doubt she gets much attention from the kids. And her and Gilda are based on molds that can't be used for anything else...

And this is all new stuff that hasn't come out yet. People need to just wait and see what happens, I say. I have a feeling they may be pleasantly surprised as more toys are announced. :)

I'd be suprised if Gilda's mold wasnt reused. Some of us are expecting S3 to be a "world Tour" season, so we may meet more griffens, it just seems odd to me that hasbro would make a one-off mold like that.

Now Granny Smith... yeah, ok, there's no real explaining that one away... though I can see her being slightly popular with kids who like the apple family... slightly...

Saw the two mini figures before, but the Nightmare Moon one? Looks pretty impressive. Where did you find that image at? I wasn't too keen on the stuff they were putting out originally, but some of this new stuff looks really good. Maybe they heard us all whine our helpful comments and wish to make us happy. :blah:

That picture was on EqD not too long ago.

Pretty sure it's the same Nightmare Moon in this image:

The Zecora and especially the Vinyl Scratch toys pictured might not have existed without us either, come to think of it (and possibly even white Celestia there).

You know what really puffles my jigglies? People who claim to be bronies just to be a part of the fandom. I used to chat with a colt who would go on and on about how much he liked the show, just to be the center of attention, and to be "cool," "different," and "special." People would get sick of it and politely inform him that they didn't appreciate the show the way he did, and that he was beginning to annoy them. At this he would become irrational and angry, almost like was waiting for an excuse to go off, and go off on them he did. He defended the television show as if they were persecuting him for it, and he labeled anyone that did not like the show for whatever reason as "ignorant." The one time he did end up talking with someone who enjoyed the show (myself), it shut him up quick, because he didn't know how to respond to anything other than, "What's your favorite character?" If I asked him what his favorite episode was, he'd tell me that he liked them all, but when inquiring about individual episodes, all I could get was yes, no, or worst of all: I don't know, I just can't explain it. At one point he started to respond with "I don't know, I haven't seen that one." He had not given me a very thorough answer about what he thought of Luna's return in Nightmare Night the first time I asked, and for that reason I forgot I had in the first place. When I asked again, he told me he hadn't seen it, and I just had to wonder aloud about whether he liked it at all. He took SERIOUS offence and ranted for a good twenty minutes before he had to leave.

Now, I'm not going to draw a line between what makes a brony and what doesn't, but if you don't enjoy the show, you don’t enjoy the show. There are ways to meet people that are actually like you.

Yeah, I saw that image as well. just didn't see Nightmare Moon. Poor thing. Always in the background. Still, I'd prefer the molded hair. I an't got no time to brush no ponies mane! Still, a nice step in the right direction.

Been thinkin' a lot lately.

Here's a main peeve of mine.

When they pick out small details from the show, and then exclaim "Yeah, A show for little girls" sarcastically. Like when they point out the "fight" scene in the royal wedding episode and say it's too dark and definately must hint at it being a show for older audiences. No. It. Is. Not. It is a show for little girls. It always will be. Get over yourself.

I prefer to think of it as a show for the whole family. Think Disney..Think Pixar. Think Dreamworks. It's a family friendly show where they throw in some references or jokes that only adults would get so we wouldn't suffer while watching it with the wee ones.

Yeah. That's how I see it. Didn't Lauren Faust say somewhere that she intended it that way, that she wanted a show that a young girl and her mother could both watch and enjoy together?

Anyone who wants to say it's fully for adults is entirely wrong, but in my opinion, it's a bit of a mistake to say it's just for little girls too. There are plenty of shows out there just for little girls. FIM was built to have more of a family appeal.
