For the next act in this day's performance of political theater, the Empress commenced an act reserved only for heads of state. It was indeed true that in dynasties past, all the other great princes and princesses were expected to acknowledge the supremacy of all the Heavenly Sons and Daughters of Dragons. Courtly protocols changed with recent Féng Dynasty reforms however; the rulers of the other realms were now treated as unofficial equals of the emperors and empresses.

Showing the Neighponese Shogun the respect he was entitled to, the Empress carefully sat up from the Dragon Throne and began a slow walk down the stairs. To treat the Shogun as an equal, a proper empress must stand on the same level as the other ruler. Gently, the royal qilin prod along until at the bottom of the steps, whereupon she slightly moved over to the side and faced her counterpart; a past acquaintance who once ranked rather highly in the young mare's fondness.

Yù Yuè never admitted it to anyone other than her twin brother Lián and sworn sister Mei, but in her youth, the qilin had been a great admirer of Rakuen Ryuichi. There had been something in the ryuma that the qilin mare found nobly dashing... cute, even. Back in those days — before her true destiny was revealed to all — little Yuè would have placed Ryuichi on the top of the list of potential suitors to be matched with. Considering how she was then viewed by the Imperial Court as a royal spare, there had been a great possibility that her wish would have come true.

Long distances and changed life goals made that childish dream fade as the years passed by. The Yuè standing in front of Ryuichi today would only see the succession crisis that would inevitably trigger should the two sovereigns agree to marry one another. Not to mention that as royal heads of state, the two of them must wisely use their available arranged marriages to secure vital domestic support. So it ever was, so will it always be.

For not the last time however, Yuè subtly gazed up and down upon Ryuichi's form for a moment, taking stock of how handsome the ryuma has become in his stallionhood. My my, what good fortune awaited Ryuichi's bride-to-be.....

When the Empress was finally ready to speak, her glistening azure eyes fixed themselves on the Shogun's own set of orbs. "Let it be known... that we, in turn, desire lasting friendship with the Shogunate of Neighpon. For thousands of years, our two great civilizations have maintained balance — and harmony — in the world. Although our nations have not always seen eye to eye, it is also true... that we are stronger together than apart. We therefore accept your noble offer, and we will reciprocate your friendship for ten thousand years."

As she finished speaking, the Empress nodded her head in a courteous bow; a standard gesture of respect. All throughout her miniature speech, the royal qilin's words reflected both the clear forcefulness of a leader and the calming serenity of a wise sage. A tough tightrope to trot, but all emperors and empresses are expected to maintain that delicate balance with the greatest of ease. But walk that tightrope Yuè did... and not once throughout her address did her eyes express anything else to Ryuichi but warmth.....

  2. Morning court in Huangjing's Imperial Palace always begin the same way. As per tradition, the imperial monarch's courtiers assemble during most early mornings in the Hall of the Dragon Throne; the largest and most central structure within the royal complex. Inside is a tall and expansive throne room: every square inch inside is lavished with gold ornamentation and countless decorative motifs, while rows of pillars support the weight of the ceiling above. At the head of the great audience hall sits the fabled Dragon Throne; a gold-forged treasure raised above the rest of the room by a massive set of marble stairs, and adorned with depictions of majestic serpent dragons both on the chair itself and the enormous backdrop behind.

Precious few ever get a glimpse inside the Hall of the Dragon Throne, but those who do and describe what they see never fail to add further fuel to the legends about its unearthly splendor. Truly a worthy throne room for an emperor or empress of Long Guo.

    Once the courtiers assemble on both sides of the hall (leaving a wide gap in the middle), the Empress finally enters to take her seat, flanked by the solemn brocade-clad guards of the Imperial Watch. All the gathered officials are expected to kowtow at this time, shouting;

"LONG LIVE THE EMPRESS! LONG MAY SHE REIGN!"

With proper reverence to the Heavenly Daughter of Dragons having been demonstrated, proceedings of court can finally begin. All those gathered must abide by the ancient rules of stately decorum: step directly in front of the stairs leading to the Throne when prompted by the Empress, always step forward (for the chief ministers who stood in front) or walk to the hall's center when commenting on the words of another, no outbursts of unchecked emotion, no gazing directly at the Empress unless addressing her, and NEVER use the sovereign's given name.....

    FutyNZo.jpg?1

The Empress herself looked radiant as an empress should. Decked in her finest diyi of red shimmersilk along with a delicate crown of great beauty, there was little doubt that the qilin mare looked the part of Long Guo's ruler. Her attention this morning was drawn towards a very important guest, standing in front but off towards the side. His presence meant that today's morning court would be a symbolically important one.

"Before we move on to usual matters of state, there is a very important dignitary among us today who must be granted due attention. He has traveled a long distance, in the name of friendship between beings... of all nations.

.....May the honorable Shogun of Neighpon present himself at this time."

What's this? Another OOC thread for the Magic Guild? What warrants yet another reboot?

Well, I assume many of you are familiar with Spellbound, WoE's resident association of magic ponies. What many of you may not know is that long ago, back in 2012 or so, the original plan was to make this organization more like an actual guild. At the time though, without the ability for users to write worldbuilding lore, we were forced to limit the scope of the group. And so it became more of social club; a hang-out for magically skilled ponies in WoE that lacked the gravitas of a true magic guild.

All of that is about to change! Thanks to new Lore written by yours truly, Spellbound will take the next step in its evolution. Not only will the Magic Guild take more of an increased role in community service, but it will now serve to promote the economic interests of all who practice magic for a living. At it's heart, the Magic Guild will remain the same group of friendly, magically gifted ponies it's always has been. But our fine little Guild is growing up... maturing.

For existing member OCs, perhaps the biggest change is that they'll now be ranked as either an Apprentice, Journeypony, or Master. This ranking system is based on how far an OC has advanced in their magic careers. Here are descriptions of each rank:

    • Apprentice: Is still in school, and has not yet found a job relying on magic proficiency. Don't have to pay dues.
    • Journeypony: Works as a paid employee in a job that requires magic proficiency, or is self-employed as a vagabond magic practitioner.
    • Master: Runs their own "brick-and-mortar" business (no wanderers please); enjoys the direct patronage of a royal, noble, or elected official; or is trusted by a credible institution or individual to teach magic to others. Masters have the right to hang a sign showing the Guild emblem (see the top of the page) outside their business or etc.

Concerning existing Spellbound member OCs, I'll let their roleplayers decide for themselves which rank their characters fall under. For new Guild members however, I'll determine their initial Guild rank based on that OC's app sheet and in-universe character development.

As always, the Magic Guild accepts all characters with skill or interest in magic; unicorn or otherwise. Stay tuned: I'm going to cook something special up to celebration our group's transition into a full-blown Guild. :D

  4. Identity: Pummel, Director of the Equestrian Protection & Investigation Command (EPIC)

Physical Description: A towering, grim-looking gray Pegasus approaching his senior years

    EPIC Call Sign: "Papa Bear"

Powers: None per se, but Director Pummel is trained in hoof-to-hoof combat and the use of numerous magitech weapons, and is usually equipped with a life-saving gadget at all times for "emergency reasons". Pummel's secret weapon is a cybernetic right eye (his real right eye was lost in combat a long time ago), disguised with an eye patch, which provides X-ray vision. If all else fails, Pummel can still pack quite a wallop with a strong punch.

Backstory: Coming from a Stalliongrad family, Pummel came from a rough neighborhood. He learned how to fight on the streets to defend himself and his younger brothers, which served him well when he enlisted in the Equestrian Army. Pummel proved to be a natural leader and an especially good soldier, his military career culminating in earning the Medal of Valor for risking his own life to save a squad from an ambush by Empowered rogues.

That heroic feat put Pummel on EPIC's radar, who recruited him into the clandestine government agency. It was during this time that his reputation as the world's greatest soldier grew, constantly accomplishing missions in the face of poor odds. Soon enough, Pummel was the stallion training EPIC's recruits, as well as helping to plan out EPIC operations. After years of dedicated service, Pummel was an obvious choice to take the reins of EPIC itself.

About EPIC: EPIC is a secret government agency charged with using espionage to investigate potential threats, and to defend Equestria from said threats. Much of EPIC's personnel are non-Empowered ponies of a highly talented nature, although some Empowered superheroes also work for the Agency. As a government organization, EPIC has access to a vast amount of resources and funding; much of it kept secret from the public.

Notable Adversaries: Since its inception, EPIC's greatest foe has been WRAITH: a ruthless terrorist organization determined to conquer the world by any means necessary. Like EPIC, WRAITH members consist of both Empowered and non-Empowered, and has access to significant espionage and paramilitary assets. Nobody knows for certain who currently controls this renegade outfit; many leaders have come and gone over the decades, yet EPIC is still no closer to killing "that which is already dead". Like the kraken that serves as the symbol for WRAITH, if a tentacle is cut off, two more shall take its place.

General Notability: Director Pummel is a highly polarizing figure within the superhero community, along with the rest of EPIC. One side believes that EPIC is a necessary safeguard against Empowered enemies of Equestria. The other side chafes at EPIC oversight, correctly pointing out that there have been several instances when the Agency erroneously believed that a superhero had gone rogue... and not to mention all the morally questionable things EPIC has ever done in the name of Equestrian liberty.

Despite his old age, Director Pummel is still regarded as a living legend; the greatest soldier of his generation. Those who have either served in a military, paramilitary, or mercenary outfit regard Pummel with the highest respect.

18: The last Emperor stuck to the tradition of not really mingling much with external affairs, the current Empress is looking to strengthen bonds between Long Guo and outlaying areas. But likely Bellosh could elucidate more on this topic.

Correction: the previous emperors mostly didn't mingle much with their subjects the way that Princess Celesita would. In terms of world affairs, Long Guo has not displayed isolationist tendencies within living memory.

  6. The Canterlot.com Roleplay World

Wonder where "place" is in our RP world, or looking for a location to start a new thread? Well now you have a central repository for all the maps and locations for the magical realm of Equestia and the lands beyond! This is the comprehensive location guide with maps and links to all regions. As with everything else this guide is open to future refinement and expansion based on revelation by show canon and created content by the users.

    A Brief F.A.Q

For organizational purposes the world used for our World of Equestria and Canterlot Chronicles games is divided by catagories that represent geographical hierarchy:

    So what are provinces?
A province is the top category that holds either a large geographical location or nation state. There are three provincial level sections: Greater Equestria - Which holds all the lands of the ponies. Aquellia - Home of all the Griffin territories. The Outlands - All the peripheral lands outside the first two provincial locations. Provinces as far as RP are concerned are top level forums that are simply containers for all the related regions (or sub-forums) for the sake or RP section organization. One never posts directly into the root of a province level forum.

    So what are regions?
A region is a subsection of a province created to better organize the RP; they correspond to a geographical location within the Province. For example: Greater Equestria is divided into the following regions: Borderlands, Heartland, The Foothills, The Stand, and the Frontier, each representing a relative geographical position as indicated by the ( ) (parentheses) following their name. It is under the region level forum where one would post their RP thread.

    So what are landmarks?
A landmark is a city, town, or geographical feature within a region (Examples: Ponyville, or Whitetail Wood). These are the specific locations referenced for the RP thread itself. They are not forum categories, but instead are tags one can assign when one creates a new RP thread under the appropriate region forum.

So how do we figure out the location of the place we want to RP In?
Listed below are the RP landmarks in each region that has a tag associated with it. In addition, each link has a more detailed regional map of that region is provided to show the relative location of the landmark, as well as additional names of nearby geographical features one is free to reference to describe additional locations within the RP thread if one so chooses (Note: This isn't a list of every possible geographical feature in the land, just the major ones, so feel free to name your own small brook, or rock, or other minor feature in your RP if it helps the story)

  8. 1, 2, 6, & 11) What Blueblood said.

    3) Rare and deadly creatures are found all over Whitescar; the Spine is merely the place where the biggest and baddest of them dwell. As a general rule of thumb, if a creature wouldn't look out of place in Skyrim, then it'll belong in Whitescar just fine.

    4) Yes.

    5) Not out of the realm of possibility.

    7) That has yet to be determined, although if we do decide to promote Unofficial Lore, a lot of factors would have to be considered first before making a decision. Rest assured though, we'll take notice if you're a highly prolific and skilled writer of Unofficial Lore (ask Dubstep).

    8) We'll naturally have to make small additions here and there whenever the show features a new locale. Funnily enough though, the new Lore expansion is going to feature a ton of new islands.

    9) Only two seas have official names so far.

    10) I see no reason why our world wouldn't have polar caps. We'll have to see if Brian can freeze up the northernmost oceans on the next map update, because that seems like a logical landscape (or oceanscape rather) to include.

    12) We used to do so, but the IDW comics have fallen out of favor with RPH as of late. Chances are that we'll mostly keep to developing our own original content.

    13) The last time somebody asked this question, we all agreed that seaponies could thrive in freshwater.

    14) You'll have to ask a Celestia roleplayer for a proper answer.
